Dr. Klevos is fellowship trained in both Breast Imaging and Interventional Radiology. She completed her Radiology residency and fellowships at the University of Miami. Upon the completion of her training, she served in an academic capacity as a faculty member at the University of Miami in Breast Imaging and as the Chief of Breast Interventional Oncology. She is double board certified by the American College of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology and by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
She has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed journal articles in the fields of both Breast Imaging and Interventional Radiology. She is recognized for her published works in Image Guided Cryoablation of Breast Tumors, Breast Cancer, Treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer with DEBIRI and Irreversible electroporation (IRE) for pancreatic cancer. She is a graduate of the founding class of the PLA (Physician Leadership Academy-South Florida chapter) and has published articles on important topics like Physician Burnout and the ‘Business of Medicine’. As an interventional radiologist, I use image guidance (x-rays, ultrasound, CT, PET, or MRI) to perform minimally invasive procedures. The images are used to direct tiny catheters, wires, and needles in order to diagnose and treat tumors. Using image guidance allows us to perform a wide variety of procedures without making large incisions, leading to shorter recovery times and fewer complications. We can also treat tumors by burning or freezing them (ablation) or clogging the arteries that supply them with different materials (embolization). Other procedures we perform include biopsies, opening an obstructed channel (for example, a vessel, a bile duct, or a ureter), or stopping a bleeding vessel.
I am also trained as a computational biologist, which means I develop, adapt, and apply algorithms from machine learning and information theory to biology. Some of my previous work focused on building mathematical models of biological networks such as gene networks and structural brain networks. Currently I am working on applying these same tools to analyzing genomic data from tumors to better predict and ultimately better tailor treatments to individual patients.
Dr. Bradford Wood directs a multi-disciplinary team (NIH Center for Interventional Oncology) that develops and translates devices, software, and navigation approaches for cancer patients via novel local and regional minimally-invasive image-guided therapies. Dr. Wood has directed the Interventional Radiology Research Lab from 2004 to present, and was Acting Co-Director of Radiology from 2006 to 2008. His research relies upon multi-disciplinary team science within multiple institutes and holds appointment in Radiology & Imaging Sciences in the CC, as well as the Urological Oncology Branch in NCI/CCR. He has received both the Clinical Center Director’s Award and the NIH Director’s Award, and has published widely in the field of Interventional Radiology and the emerging discipline in Interventional Oncology. The Center for Interventional Oncology translates technologies and paradigms for first in human treatments for cancer and cultivates interventional radiology applications within a muliti-disciplinary framework, to apply biomedical engineering to solve real-life clinical problems and patient care needs. His team’s achievements include helping to pioneer several technologies from concept to bench to patient, including prostate cancer MRI/TRUS fusion biopsy and ablation, image-able iodinated drug eluting beads for chemoembolization of liver tumors, heat deployed chemotherapy combined with thermal ablation for liver cancer, “medical GPS” electromagnetic (EM) tracking for fusion of ultrasound to CT, MR, and PET, and fusion for needle-based procedures like biopsy and thermal ablation, and other smart needles, devices, and software for minimally invasive, multi-modality, image-guided procedures. Dr. Wood &/or the CIO team performed “First-in-human” treatments including: First RFA for kidney tumors; First RFA of pheochromocytoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, & chordoma; First thermal ablation of liver tumors augmented with heat-deployed liposomal doxorubicin; First iodinated & image-able drug eluting bead embolization of liver tumors; First GPS-enabled ablation and biopsy devices; Ultrasound fusion enabled navigation systems; and PET, MRI, CT and ultrasound fusion interventions.
Clinical Interest for Patients I take care of patients with all kinds of bone and soft tissue tumors and cancers, including sarcomas, desmoid tumors, GIST, and PVNS (tenosynovial giant cell tumor). I an an expert not only in standard chemotherapy treatments, but also am active in clinical trials including immunotherapy, and personalized/precision medicine. Care Philosophy I believe that medicine, especially cancer medicine, is best practiced as a partnership between doctors, researchers, and patients. Decisions are always best made as a team effort, taking into account every aspect of a patient’s unique situation! Personal Interests I have recently moved from Miami, Florida to Denver and had to change my hobbies a bit! My husband and I love fishing and boating, and now are getting into exploring the incredible outdoor activities, including hiking, off-roading in our Jeep, learning to ski, and just being outside with our dog! Volunteer Activities I am active with several patient-initiated foundations as an advisory board member, helping to empower patients, families and advocates to advance research to find a cure for sarcomas. Dr. McWilliams obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Truman State University in Missouri, where he graduated valedictorian and Summa Cum Laude. He then attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he received multiple letters of distinction and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. After completing a transitional internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, Dr. McWilliams returned to UCLA for radiology residency. There he served as Chief Resident, and also received awards for Outstanding Radiology Resident and Outstanding Graduating Senior Resident. He then remained at UCLA for interventional radiology fellowship, at which time he also served as Chief Fellow. Dr. David C. Madoff is Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicinein NYC. Dr. Madoff earned his B.A. from Emory University and his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Diagnostic Radiology at SUNY at Stony Brook. His fellowship training in IR was at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He was on faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Center for a decade before joining Weill Cornell in 2011. From January 2011 to November 2015, Dr. Madoff served as IR Division Chief. Dr. Madoff has a strong background in clinical care and has treated many patients with complex oncological problems. He is world-renowned for his work on preoperative portal vein embolization, a technique based on the liver’s ability to regenerate that has been used in patients with hepatobiliary cancer to increase the size of the anticipated liver remnant before surgery. Without this procedure, many patients with potentially resectable disease would not be eligible for curative resection. Dr. Madoff is a leader in academic IR and an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings. He authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles, written more than 30 book chapters and served as co-editor of four textbooks. Dr. Madoff served as Deputy Editor for RADIOLOGY from 2012-2017 and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JVIR from 2007-2010. Dr. Madoff currently serves on the editorial boards of Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Seminars in Interventional Radiology, Cancer Biology & Medicine and European Radiology Experimental. Fred T. Lee Jr, MD is a Professor of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Urology, The Robert A. Turrel Professor of Imaging Science, and the Chief of Abdominal Intervention at the University of Wisconsin. Previous roles include Chief of Abdominal Imaging and Intervention and Senior Vice Chair at the University of Wisconsin Department of Radiology. He has been a University of Wisconsin faculty member since 1991, and was designated as a Radiologic Society of North America Scholar in 1996. Dr. Lee established the Tumor Ablation Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin in 1995, one of the first of its type in the world. His work has resulted in over 200 scientific publications, hundreds of scientific and business presentations, 20 book chapters, 24 inventions/patents, and substantial federal and industrial grant support. He is the recipient of more than 50 major honors and awards including multiple “Best Doctor” awards, the UW Health Presidential Physician Leadership Award, and the Grand Prize in the 2014 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Competition. Dr. Lee is a founding member of the International Working Group on Tumor Ablation, and a founder of three venture-backed biotech start-up companies devoted to cancer treatment: Cellectar, Inc. Rupesh Kotecha, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Kotecha is the Chief of Radiosurgery and has specialized training and experience in utilizing the latest techniques in radiation therapy treatment for both cancer and noncancerous conditions. His research background and clinical interests have primarily focused on the treatment of patients with stereotactic radiotherapy, including CyberKnife®, LINAC-based and GammaKnife® radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). He also specializes in advanced radiation therapy treatment techniques, including re-irradiation, proton beam radiotherapy, and MR-guided radiation therapy. Dr. Kim is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Georgetown University Medical Center where he serves as the Chief of the Division of Interventional Radiology. After receiving his medical training from Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Kim completed a surgical internship at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. He went on to perform a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he studied various molecular pathways involved in cancer development. He performed his post-graduate training in radiology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital where he also completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. His main clinical and research interest is in interventional oncology – specifically to develop methods to augment outcomes from liver-directed therapies – and has published a number of papers on this topic. He currently serves as an investigator in a number of single center and multi-center trials in various interventional oncology treatments.
Matthew S Johnson, MD FSIR is Professor of Radiology and Surgery, Gary J Becker Professor of Radiology Research, and Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, and Director of Interventional Oncology for Indiana University Health. He is the Secretary of the Society of Interventional Radiology and and Co-Primary Investigator of the PRESERVE study, which is evaluating the safety and efficacy of IVC filters in the United States. More than 1400 subjects have been enrolled in that multi-institutional trial since its initiation October, 2015.
Dr. Geronemus received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, as well as a fellowship in interventional radiology at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

Dr. Christopher Gomez is a specialist in urinary incontinence and urogenital reconstruction. He earned his medical degree and completed a residency in urology at the University of Miami where he was recognized for his accomplishments in urologic research. He went on to complete a fellowship in female urology, urodynamics and reconstruction. He returned to the University of Miami in 2011 at which point he became a faculty member with the urology department, and in 2012, he became the associate program director of the urology residency program. In 2018 he joined the Miami Cancer Institute to start a center for Continence and Genitourinary Reconstruction. Dr. Gomez was awarded the American Urological Associate/Urologic Society of India academic exchange scholar grant where he focused on urogenital reconstruction in India. He was also selected by the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and American Urological Society to participate in urethral reconstruction and vesicovaginal fistula repairs in Haiti. He continues to lecture nationally and internationally regarding the impact of neurologic disease on the urinary system and urogenital reconstruction. Dr. Gomez is currently working to advance urologic medicine using minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, and he is actively involved in research to test and develop new treatments for these disorders.

Luego completó su residencia en el Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires y su Fellowship en Angiografía y Radiología Intervencionista en el Bicetre Hospital de París, Francia. También realizó un Fellowship en Neuroradiología Intervencionista en el New York Medical Center, Estados Unidos, un Fellowship en Neuroradiología en el Toronto Western Hospital, Canada, y un Fellowship en Intervencionismo Oncológico en el Instituto Gustave Roussy, Francia.
Actualmente se desempeña como Jefe del Servicio de Diagnóstico por Imágenes del Hospital Italiano, así como Jefe de la Sección de Angiografía y Terapia Endovascular. Se desempeñó durante dos mandatos consecutivos como Presidente de la Sociedad Argentina de Radiología, en el período 2001-2006, y es actualmente Miembro Honorario Nacional de dicha Sociedad. En 2005 se convirtió en el primer médico de Sudamérica en recibir la Membresía Honoraria de la Sociedad Europea de Radiología (ESR), galardón que recibió también en el año 2002 de parte de la Sociedad Italiana (SIRM), y en 2009 de la Sociedad Francesa de Radiología (SFR). Entre 2006 y 2010 fue miembro del International Advisory Committee (IAC) de la Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), siendo el primer médico argentino en ocupar un cargo similar. Se desempeña también como Reviewer de importantes publicaciones médicas, como por ejemplo la revista Radiology (RSNA) y JVIR (SIR).

Afshin Gangi, M.D., Hospital of Strasbourg, Strasbourg, France Dr. Afshin Gangi received his education in the International French School of Teheran, graduating in 1980. During the summer of 1980, he attended medical school at the University of Reims in France, receiving his Degree in 1987. He began his residency in Strasbourg in 1987, first in the intensive care unit and Pneumology where he became excited about imaging and moved to the imaging department. After his Residency in general radiology and Neuroradiology, he worked one year in Luxembourg with Professor R.F. Dondelinger in Interventional Radiology. Dr. Gangi began his fellowship in Strasbourg in November 1991 in the department of Neuroradiology and MSK with special interest in percutaneous procedures. He performed his first vertebroplasty in 1989 during his residency and continued to develop image-guided procedures in interventional oncology, especially under CT-C arm fluoroscopy and MR guidance. In 1995, Dr. Gangi obtained his Ph.D. in Laser Physics in Strasbourg. During the same year, he was appointed Assistant Professor in the University Hospital of Strasbourg and he became a full Professor of Radiology in 2000. Since 2014, he is working in King’s college London for research in interventional oncology and HIFU as an invited Professor with Professor Andy Adam. Prof Gangi holds numerous patents and is an author of more that 200 peer reviewed articles. He has more than 35 book chapters to his credit along with over 500 abstracts at numerous national and international conferences. Currently, Dr. Gangi is the Chairman of Radiology and Nuclear medicine in the University Hospital and work in the department of Interventional Radiology, with a special interest in Interventional Oncology. He is actively involved in different international society and is the vice president of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).
Ripal T. Gandhi, M.D. is faculty at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute / Miami Vascular Specialists and Miami Cancer Institute. He is also an associate professor at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and USF College of Medicine. Dr. Gandhi graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a degree in Biology. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed a surgical internship at Cornell University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital. He completed his residency training and fellowship at UCLA Medical Center and was voluntary faculty at UCLA following fellowship. He has served as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and dedicated an entire year to biomedical research at the renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Prior to joining Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Dr. Gandhi was an international visiting scholar at Asan Medical Center/University of Ulsan Medical School in Seoul, South Korea. Mehul Harshad Doshi, MD, is an Interventional Radiologist at Cleveland Clinic Florida, Weston, and a Clinical Affiliate Associate Professor of Radiology at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine – Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Doshi completed his medical school and residency in Radiology from B. J. Medical College, civil hospital, Ahmedabad (India) in 2004. He subsequently completed fellowships in Vascular Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology from Jackson Memorial Hospital/ University of Miami in 2008. He served as a faculty in the Department of Radiology and Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami from 2008 to 2018. In April 2018, Dr. Doshi joined the section of Interventional Radiology at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Dr. Doshi is Board-Certified in Diagnostic radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology from the American Board of Radiology (ABR). He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). Dr. Michael Chuong, MD is a radiation oncologist and director of radiation oncology clinical research at Miami Cancer Institute. He is a member of the NRG Oncology GI committee and the Disease Site Committee Chair for the Proton Collaborative Group. His clinical practice focuses on gastrointestinal cancers for which he has expertise in treating with IMRT, MR-guided SBRT, and proton therapy. He has published numerous peer reviewed manuscripts and is actively involved in clinical trials development.
Dr. Chapiro joined the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging as a research scientist and interventional radiology resident from Berlin, Germany. After graduating from the University of Leipzig and upon completion of his research thesis at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, he served as a postdoctoral fellow in interventional oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and then as radiology resident at the Department of Radiology, Charité University Hospital in Berlin. Dr. Chapiro works on the development of novel imaging biomarkers, tumor response criteria, staging systems and molecular imaging techniques for image-guided liver cancer therapies. His translational research portfolio includes the development of novel embolic agents as well as the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for the assessment of liver cancer. His basic research interest mainly focuses on tumor metabolism and immuno-oncology. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and news articles, Dr. Chapiro advocates the element of personalized medicine in interventional oncology, which is the most rapidly growing field in interventional radiology practice. Creating innovative and clinically practicable solutions and translating them from concept to practice has been his central mission for the past five years. He is the co-initiator of the “Rising Star” Student Exchange Program in collaboration with the Charité University Hospital in Berlin and co-directs the Yale Radiology Research laboratory.
Dr. Jorge Raul Caso is an adjunct assistant professor of urology at FIU and the director of the urologic oncology fellowship and of the kidney cancer institute at the Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health. He has lectured in national and international conferences on advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery for genitourinary malignancies. Dr. Caso has extensive experience in kidney surgery, including the utilization of laparoscopic single site and robotic platforms for nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy. He has particular interest in extraperitoneal and retroperitoneal approaches to renal and pelvic surgery, bypassing intraabdominal approaches where precluded by medical history. He is an expert in performing robotic radical prostatectomy and complex upper and lower tract reconstruction by minimally invasive means. Dr. Caso has published extensively in the surgery and natural history of varied malignancies. His interests include outcomes based-research and novel surgical techniques.
Theresa Caridi, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. After attending the University of Florida for medical school and radiology residency, Dr. Caridi completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. She then joined the faculty at Georgetown. Dr. Caridi is board certified in radiology and also holds her specialty certification for interventional radiology. She currently serves as the medical student clerkship director for interventional radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Caridi is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and is presently serving as an officer on the SIR Foundation Board of Directors as the Development Division Chair. She has been named a Washingtonian Top Doctor in 2018, an honor given to her as a preeminent physician in the DC, Maryland and Virginia region. Jim Caridi MD FSIR, Professor of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and Chairman of Radilogy at Tulane University Medical School. Initial training began at FSU and UF in Florida where he was chief of vascular and interventional radiology for 20 years. Part of this time he also served as fellowship program director. During his tenure along with Dr. I Hawkins and staff they published many peer reviewed articles as well as book chapters and posters. Many of the educational materials centered around improving safety and techniques for vascular and interventional procedures as well being the thought leaders for the use of CO2 as an alternative contrast agent. In 2013 Jim moved to Tulane University Medical Center where he started as an attending in VIR. He has since become Chairman of the Department of Radiology.
Dr. Callstrom is a Professor of Radiology and Vice Chair for the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He serves as the Director of the Ultrasound Research Center. His clinical and research foci are on image-guided intervention to treat cancer. In particular, Dr. Callstrom is an expert in the use of various ablation technologies for treating neoplasms in liver, lung, kidney, bone, and soft tissue. Research efforts include developing an understanding of the response of neoplastic cells to thermal injury, development of new imaging methods for improved tumor targeting, and involvement in clinical trials to understand efficacy of interventional oncologic treatments. Dr. Callstrom has a strong track record of collaborating with academic and industrial investigators. His involvement in education is mentoring Ph.D. students in experimental design and laboratory studies, as well as mentoring radiology residents and fellows in the medical graduate program. James F. Benenati, MD, FSIR, is a practicing Interventional Radiologist, Medical Director, Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory and Fellowship Program Director at the Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida.
He is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at Florida International University College of Medicine and Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He is past President of SIR. He served as President of the Vascular Division for the Intersocietal Accreditation Committee (IAC) and served for over a decade on their board. He served as the annual meeting chairman for SIR in 2005. He was the recipient of the SIR Charles T. Dotter Award in 2014.

Bulent Arslan, MD, is trained for his fellowship at University of Rochester, New York. His first job was at Tucson Veterans Hospital, where he developed a vascular intervention consult service and provided system wide education for management peripheral vascular disorders. Performed first carotid stenting and percutaneous thoracic aneurysm repair in the VA Healthcare system. Received several gold star awards for outstanding service. He then moved to University of Virginia where he performed several first in man procedures, such as in-vivo fenestration of a stent-graft to preserve renal artery flow and percutaneous treatment of bilateral iliac and aortic aneurysm with two bifurcated stent-grafts. He was one of the early adaptors of thoracic Type B Dissection Treatment with Stent-Grafts as part of UVA vascular intervention team led by Dr Dake. His next appointment was Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Arslan initiated the radioembolization program at Moffitt. In 2011, 256 radioembolizations were performed which was the highest number of cases in the world. He then moved to Rush University Medical Center in Jan 2012, as the director of vascular/interventional radiology. He started developing both interventional oncology and peripheral vascular and aortic intervention programs at Rush. Radioembolization volume increased 10 folds and critical limb ischemia intervention volume increased 5 folds in the first two years of his tenure at Rush. Almost 1000 CLI interventions performed with 98% technical success rate. He also treats thoraco-abdominal aneurysms with percutaneous approach using Octopus technique. Dr Arslan performed the first ever percutaneous femoral to femoral vein bypass graft procedure to alleviate severe lower extremity swelling with excellent clinical outcome. He also performed the first ever percutaneous ilio-femoral arterial bypass procedure. Riccardo Lencioni, MD, FSIR, EBIR, is Professor of Radiology at the University of Pisa School of Medicine in Pisa, Italy, and Honorary Research Professor of Interventional Oncology at the Miami Cancer Institute in Miami, USA. He was previously Professor of Radiology and Director of Interventional Oncology Research at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Professor Lencioni is one of the world’s foremost interventional oncology specialists, known especially for his highly influential work in liver cancer.
